Invitation to Explore and Paint with Nature

Nature Painting by Crayon Box Chronicles

Good morning! It’s a beautiful day and the birds are chirping! Today we are exploring nature and all its beautiful elements.  Yesterday we went on a family nature walk and collected lots of different nature goodies ― leaves, twigs, pine needles, green berries, and sweetgums or as C says, “spiky pine cones.” It was a beautiful invitation to explore! C, Daddy, and I discovered different textures, smells, and sounds.

Being in nature is so calming, yet energizes the senses too!  C immediately noticed all the sweetgum balls and began picking them apart.  After a long beautiful walk we ventured home to explore all our fun finds.  After setting up an invitation to paint, C identified his three favorite colors, poured, and began painting!

I just love all different textures!

I painted an outline of the large leaf with a roller.  C really enjoyed the pine needle splashes and picking apart the balls.

It’s such a treat to watch him explore different materials.  Above is his final nature painting! See invitations to explore, create, & play for more!
