Heart Tissue Paper by Number Craft

Heart Tissue Paper by Number Craft by Crayon Box Chronicles

Today’s learning activity for preschoolers is easy to set-up, fun, and educational.  Our heart tissue paper by number activity helps reinforce a child’s understanding of basic numbers, color matching, as well as improve fine motor skills.  All it takes to get started is a few basic materials you probably have lying around craft table + love! C really enjoyed our turkey tissue paper by number craft, so we thought we’d try it for Valentine’s Day too!

Materials:

  • Heart Template (scale 140%)
  • Tissue Paper – Red, Pink, White
  • Black Marker
  • Glue
  • Scissors
  • Numbers  1, 2, 3

Tissue Paper by Number Activity Print out your heart template above and add your numbered sections.  We chose three colors of tissue paper, but to make it more complex just add more colors and numbers. C helped me cut the tissue squares, but ripping them would be a beneficial sensory activity as well.  Assign your color order – great for the kiddos to do!

Adding glue to coordinating numbers Squeeze the paper into small balls, add glue, than match each number with its corresponding color.  This helps improve their basic number recognition skills.

Child crumbling tissue paper to glue on number C really enjoyed all the ripping and scrunching! He’s a sensory seeker, so the pressure and texture helps him regulate and focus.

Adding colored tissue paper to numbers Just continue around the heart until you’re all done.  This makes a fun valentines card as well, big or small. SImply scale the heart template before printing, than cut and glue it  to a folded blank card.
