Pine cone pumpkins are simple to make for Halloween decor and require few materials. They make great kid-made gifts too. Recycling pine cones for crafts is a great way to reuse beautiful elements found in nature.
You’ll need the following materials: (Affiliate Links)
- Pine Cones
- Orange Pipe Cleaners
- Green Pipe Cleaners or Ribbon
- Pencil
*If you prefer to bake them first to remove any critters living inside, bake for 45 minutes at 250 degrees on a foil-lined baking sheet. Once they’re completely cooled and sappy, they’re ready.
Simply, flip the pine cone over and lace the ends into the holes, making note to crisscross the pipe cleaners. You can add a dab of hot glue, but may not necessary.
Once you’re happy with the amount of pipe cleaners, push down at the center to create your stem and wrap a green pipe cleaner around the nub.
Finally, curl the ends of the pipe cleaner with a pencil to finish your stem.
Love pine cones? We do too.
